  • Dinosaur National Monument 100th Events

    Dinosaur National Monument has announced a few of their 2016 events that are considered part of the National Park Service's 100th Anniversary celebrations. Stop back for more info on time and place when additional events become available.


    2016 Events

    Wild Life Weekend

    Date/Time: May 21/22, Time 8:00 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., see schedule below.
    Location: Dinosaur National Monument.
    Event: Saturday, May 21: 8:00-10:00 am Bird Walk meets at the Green River Campground Program Circle for a 1-1.5 mile walk. Binoculars and field guides encouraged.

    9:00 am to 9:15 am & 2:00 pm to 2:15 pm - Introduction to iNaturalist App talk meets at the Quarry Visitor Center back patio.

    10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wild Things activities for kids at the Quarry Visitor Center.

    10:00 am to NoonDesert Voices Wild Life Hike meets at the trailhead near the Split Mountain boat ramp.

    7:30 pm to 8:15 pm Going Batty evening program at the Green River Campground program circle.

    Sunday, May 22 - 8:00 am to 10:00 am Bird Walk meets at the Green River Campground Program Circle for a 1-1.5 mile walk. Binoculars and field guides encouraged.

    9:00 am to 9:15 am & 2:00 pm to 2:15 pm Introduction to iNaturalist App talk meets at the Quarry Visitor Center back patio.

    10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wild Things activity table for kids at the Quarry Visitor Center.

    10:00 am to 11:30 am Fossil Discovery Trail Flower Walk meets at the Quarry Exhibit Hall shuttle stop.

    1:00 pm to 4:30 pm Harpers Corner Road Birds and Flower Car Caravan meets at the Canyon Visitor Center in Colorado. Bring binoculars, water, snacks and a full tank of gas.



    National Park Centennial

    Date/Time: August 25. Time 1:00 p.m.
    Location: Quarry Visitor Center and Canyon Visitor Center.
    Event: The National Park Service turns 100 years old today. There are so many ways to celebrate, and the sweetest way is with cake. Join rangers, volunteers and park partners in kicking off a second century of stewardship until all the slices are gone.
