    Mount Rainier National Park has announced some of their 2016 events that are considered part of the National Park Service's 100th Anniversary celebrations. Stop back for more info on time and place when they become available.

    2016 Events

    Bat Blitz

    Date/Time: May 20, Time TDB.
    Location: Mount Rainier National Park.
    Event: Visitors are invited for an evening hike with biologists and rangers to learn about nocturnal adaptations and bat diversity at Longmire.

    Mount Rainier National Park Associates - Centennial Volunteer Project

    Date/Time: May 21, June 18, July 16, August 13, September 10; Time TBD.
    Location: Mount Rainier National Park.
    Event: Trail maintenance project.

    Park-wide BioBlitz

    Date/Time: May 21; Time TBD.
    Location: Mount Rainier National Park.
    Event: Park scientists and volunteers will conduct species inventories in conjunction with Centennial BioBlitz events throughout the country.

    National Trail Day - Volunteer Projects

    Date/Time: June 4; Time TBD.
    Location: Mount Rainier National Park.
    Event: Volunteer projects in the park, including Longmire Stewardship Campground clean-up from the past winter's storms.

    Centennial Speaker Series

    Date/Time: June 14, June 21, July 28, August 6; 8:30 p.m., 8:45 p.m. on July 28.
    Location: Mount Rainier National Park, Paradise Inn.
    Event: Join authors, scientists, and other speakers as they share their passion for Mount Rainier National Park. June 14 - Centennial Speaker Series: The Hour of the Land. Join author Terry Tempest Williams as she discusses the meanings of America's National Parks and reads from her upcoming book, The Hour of the Land. A Personal Topograph of America's National Parks. July 21 - Centennial Speaker Series: Science in the Park. Scientists share their current park research and speculate on possible future park research topics. July 28, 8:45pm** - Centennial Speaker Series: Landscapes for the People. Authors Ren and Helen Davis share rarely seen historic pictures taken by the National Park Service's first photographer, George Alexander Grant, and read excerpts from their new book, Landscapes for the People. August 6 - Centennial Speaker Series: Mount Rainier Stories.

    Location: Mount Rainier National Park and surrounding communities.
    Event: The 100 geocaches (earthcaches within Mount Rainier National Park) highlight the region's rich history, scenic wonders, quaint communities, and hidden gems.
