National Park Service 100th Anniversary

  • Rocky Mountain 100th Events

    Rocky Mountain National Park will be finalizing their 2016 events soon. For now, there are several 2016 events on the calendar that are considered part of the National Park Service's 100th Anniversary celebrations. Stop back for more info on time and place when they become available. Rocky Mountain National Park celebrated its own 100th anniversary with many spectacular events in 2015.

    2016 Events

    100 Images for 100 Years

    Date/Time: April 16-24.
    Location: Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.
    Event: Celebrate National Park Week and the National Park Service Centennial with 100 beautiful photographs picked from our Rocky Mountain National Park Instagram account.

    National Junior Ranger Day

    Date/Time: April 16.
    Location: Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.
    Event: Come join in fun family activities and earn a special Junior Ranger Badge celebrating the Centennial of the National Park Service.

    Centennial Student Art Contest

    Date/Time: May 22 to June 19. June 11 Reception.
    Location: Fall River Visitor Center.
    Event: Students from across Colorado were asked to envision their favorite national park in the next 100 years and capture that in various art mediums. The winners of this contest sponsored by the Estes Institute will be exhibited in the downstairs lobby of the Fall River Visitor Center. Come by and see the creativity of these amazing students!

    National Parks in Quilts

    Date/Time: September 4-25.
    Location: Fall River Visitor Center.
    Event: National Parks in Quilts is a display of 13 art quilts created to celebrate the Centennial of the National Park Service during the 2015-17 seasons. The quilts were created by Fiber Works, a group of textile artists from the Lincoln-Omaha, Nebraska area. The artists were inspired by their favorite national park site.
